Outline of Life, For me that is ! Cont'd

A. Basketball
1. Coaching (middle School)- Well we lost yesterday in overtime 47-45. First, we were very lethargic in the first half. We didn't DEFEND the ball well and we shot an ice cold percentage from the field. With all that being said, we were only down 20-11 at the half. It should be noted that I had to bench 3 starters do to academic discipline problems for 1/2 the game. In the second half our defense improve, but more importantly, our shooting got luke warm. Heading in to the last 13 seconds of overtime we were ahead by 1 and defending the ball. One of my guards (1-3-1 trapping zone) steps up to contest a 3, and all I could yell was NOOOOOO FOOOUUUULLLL!!! He fouled the kid. Going to the line to shoot 3 he made all of them. With 6.4 seconds left we're down by 2 and I use my final time out to re-iterate my favorite full court winning play (the only one the kids could remember). On the inbound the person throwing the ball in, disregard the play and hurls the ball to another defender over half court.. Check mate!
Today we play again. I will again encourage my kids to start fast and then cruise. This instead of working behind.

2. Reporting on Former Players (High School)- I went to a great game if your were supporting the St. Patrick Celtics, NJ. They won 88-40 in a game where they showed great defensive prowess to create a myriad of turnovers. Their opposition, the Living Faith Christian Academy, didn't score a bucket in the game until 6:30 of a 8 min quarter had passed. I was in attendance to see one of my former players who I like to refer to as the "big kid". Standing at 6'7 and just turning 14 I'm sure you understand the name ! He had a tremendous game. 13 pts 3 blks, and bout 5 rebounds.. (Remember this is a Freshmen on the #2 Ranked team in the state, and #5 in the country {USA Today}). The best thing for me to watch, was that he was merely having fun! I can't imagine when he's the go to guy and his attitude turns to dominance ! Wow! Follow this link to see the small write up by the Star-Ledger: http://www.nj.com/hssports/results/boysbasketball/index.ssf/2008/01/st_patrick_88_living_faith_40_1.html

3. Following Minnesota (Tubby Time !) Nothing to report!

B. Bowling
1. Tuesday Nite Mixed League (Da Incredibles) I was absent and went to view the High School Game mentioned above. They won 3 of 4 to take our record to 10-6 early in the second half of the bowling season. Hey maybe my absence helped the team.. Nahhhhh, can't take any credit away from them. They did a great job ! I stopped by to see how things were going and they had won 1 and lost 1 and we're winning the third, so I left. (Didn't want to jinxed them)

2. Wednesday Nite Mens League (X-Men, appropriately named, LOL) Today is Wednesday. It should be noted that I have to coach a game today and will be late for this one!

C. Golfing _ Nothing to report!
1. More like my struggles with golf
2. Places I've played

i believe that it is a good idea for your team to start up fast and then go into cruise so you could be in front of the other team then hold the lead.

Its a good idea to get a demanding league so that it's harder so that the other team has a hard time working themselves back up. So yeah start up fast and then later cruise but still maintaining the league.

You guys should try to practice defence more. You should try to get more rebounds. It looks like you guys are going soft on the boards and should hit them hard.

Maybe you should start asking the team if there is something wrong with the play or something they can't do in the plays? Maybe that is the reason they lost. All I know is you are a hardworking coach =)

You should find a starting line up the scores early that way you will get a chance to play everybody. Once you find the line up that works good for you and the team i think your team will be more positive once they start winning and have fun.

I think you should just tell everyone to just have fun but remember you are still trying to win. A your next practice you should let them play a one on one game with eachother and see how they would like to shoot. If they make a lot of shots then start adding them into the routine. Then you wont have to worry about losing you will see them win! Do you have a team captin? If not you should pick one and see if he can whip the team into shape. good luck on your next game out there.

Your teem should try to get all their energy out in the begining of the game.try to START WITH GREAT DEFENCE and end with OK DEFENCE!!!!!!

I think you should take your middle school team to one of the high school games and show them the "techniques" that they should learn to become better players. I also think that you should have a team meating, not to practice, but to talk and understand each other. Also maybe you should let your team figure out what they should do in the beggining of the game. It will give them some inependence, and you a break. LOL

Hey it was a tough game, The refs were not calling the right calls. Then at haftime they couldn't even find the ball, but today is our day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You guys should also practice your techniques, dribbling, defence, and some shooting becasue you guys have been missing shots that should have been sunk.I think that that may be some of the reasons you guys are losing. Two more reasons are that you guys get into foul trouble and also need to hustle.I see some people just give up in the middle of a play and the other team take advantage of it and take it back to the hole or for a three.

I think that you should just let the team have a little more fun. But still practice hard, and if you have good endurance your team will do good!

I think that the refs was giving them the game at overtime and at the end of the 4Q.

I think that you had a great game that day. All of your games should be like that from now on. You should tell your team to just go for it. Tell them to relax and go for what your soul tells them what to do. I think that could get you far in life if you beleive it can. Your doing great at being a coach. keep up the good work!

i think that if you try your best at what ever your goal is. it doesn't really matter if you win or loose as long as you have fun.

Anonymous said...

dont worry everything is going to be ohk... that is what your mind should be set on. Cause yes everything is going to be ohk.... as long as you just try your best.

Anonymous said...

i think that you should help your team with more defense and get alittle more effort

C'mon mr.still dont let this ruin the rest of your day;maybe even week.LETS GO CAVS!!!!!!WE CAN DO IT!!!!

Maybe you should keep encouraging your players and hope that one of them will snap and talk to the other players about attiude and grades. IF note than there is always next year.
